A workhorse in its day. Currently enjoying semi-retirement in my garage. Built in 1922, it is operated by a 1/2 horsepower motor at about 800 impressions per hour. It was found in an old barn in 2001 by a machinist who restores old farm equipment as a hobby. He won’t tell me what he paid for it, but he sold it to me, delivered it and unloaded it for $150. I think he was more concerned about saving it than making a profit.
8×12 C&P Old Series
I used this press for almost 20 years. From 1988 to 2006 it lived in my basement. Purchased for $250, it was disassembled, cleaned and moved to the basement. I can’t recommend installing a press in a basement. At some point, it has to come back out. It goes down the steps easier than going up the steps.
